“FRAYED PORTALS” is an ongoing series reflecting on the possibility of mentally projecting oneself in order to traverse emotional events. Through the use of transparent fabric, the characters are able to travel through “portals” between the gauzy layers; thin films suggesting separations in space and time while proposing an alternative reality. With women communicating through reoccurring images of windows, storefronts, and doors, I’m contemplating the idea of multiple dimensions (imaginary and physical) and how these elements can assist in the processing of stressful moments and the expressing of our desires.
